Mobile basing of missiles makes them harder to keep track of and more versatile in their range of targets. According to Rick Fisher, an expert on the Chinese military program, there are 74,565 miles of rail lines in China, and 9,942 high speed rails, which makes the country's ICBM missile systems harder to track down. China launched its second Long March-5 (Chang Zhen-5) rocket on Sunday carrying a super-heavy experimental communications satellite. The launch took place at 11:23 UTC from the Wenchang Space Launch Centre’s LC101 dedicated Launch Complex. Conducting its second flight, the Long March-5 carried the Shijian-18 satellite but suffered an unspecified failure. The new Shijian-18 experimental communications satellite is based on the new DFH-5 satellite platform, developed by CAST (China Academy of Space Technology) of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).

as you know very well china is copying all technologies from others and making weapons . for example Russian rejected design of su 27 he purchased and took Pakistan with him and made JF 17 thunder however after he never use himself this junk fighter jet . Space tech is different you need self technology which china doesn't own so result is this The second launch of China's new-generation Long March-5 carrier rocket failed Sunday -- dealing a blow to the country's ambitious space aspirations. Carrying an experimental communication satellite, China's largest rocket lifted off at 7:23 p.m. local time (7:23 a.m. ET) toward clear skies from the seaside Wenchang space launch center on the southern Chinese island of Hainan. But 40 minutes later, the state-run Xinhua news agency flashed a headline declaring the launch a failure -- without providing any details. Dubbed "Chubby 5" for its huge size -- 5 meters in diameter and 57 meters tall -- the LM-5 rocket is designed to carry up to 25 tons of payload into low orbit, more than doubling the country's previous lift capability. Xinhua initially tweeted: "#BREAKING: China's launch of Long March-5 Y2 carrier rocket fails." It then tweeted: "Anomaly was detected during its flight and further investigation will be carried out." Before the launch attempt, Joan Johnson-Freese, a professor at the US Naval War College and an expert on China's space program, said the rocket would give China "heavy lift capabilities" needed to develop a large space station. "More generally, the LM-5 provides China with capabilities to reach destinations previously out of reach, including interplanetary," she said. CHINAChina's military has tested a railroad launch of a DF-41 long-range missile on December 5 that is capable of reaching US soil, The Washington Free Beacon reported. The DF-41 reportedly has a range of 7,500 miles, or over 12,000 kilometers. Estimates by US intelligence agencies say that the DF-41 will carry up to 10 MIRVs when it's deployed. Phillip A. Karber, a defense expert who heads the Potomac Foundation told The Washington Free Beacon: "The combination of high-speed mobility, launch cars disguised as civilian passenger trains, tunnel protection and secure reloading of missiles, coupled with multiple warheads, makes the system extremely hard to regulate or verify the number of systems." "We have also seen imagery of huge tunnel complexes capable of hosting three missile trains side by side," Karber added. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
